Its goal is to be quick and ready when you need it. Just two clicks. And you don't need your other hand to pinch-zoom. Your thumb will toggle zoom in and out with a touch and continuously zoom when tapped and held down (so-called long-click).
There is a buffer of 20 images held in phone's memory and you can swipe to see objects you previously magnified.
As added bonus, holding down the screen will turn on the flash light - if your phone has one.
